“If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful, he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13
What a powerful thought! Whether you believe in Jesus or not, he is still faithful. Whether you believe in Jesus or not, doesn’t change who he is. He will never, ever, not be the Savior of the world.
We need to grab a hold of that last statement for ourselves. We need to stop denying who we are.
How many times have you been excited about an idea, a creation, a project, a job, and someone discouraged you?
It only takes one person to speak a discouraging word and we feel totally defeated. We feel like maybe we are crazy. They are probably right…it will never work. Who am I to think I could accomplish that?
Then you have those who can’t see you in any light, except for the shadow of your past. How could you possibly help people who are alcoholics? You partied harder than anyone else I knew in college!
It doesn’t matter who you were or where you came from or what circumstances you came out of…you cannot deny who you are in Christ!
What could we accomplish if we looked at people and said, “Oh well, thanks for your thoughts but this is who I am, and I can’t deny me.”
Imagine never letting anyone’s words, actions,
expressions, or thoughts deter you.
What would you accomplish?
What is it that you have always wanted to do? What have you felt called to do? If you knew you couldn’t fail what would you be doing right now? What is it you are passionate about? Wherever your passion lies is where your ministry is found.
If I use myself as an example my passions are singing, writing, and speaking. I also like to dabble in a little drawing. With those things in mind, if you know me, you know I am half of Appointed2. I sing, I write lyrics and I travel with my husband evangelizing. I am also the author of the Think On This devotion/bible study series, I created my own greeting card line called Speak Life Inspirational Greetings by Amy. You can only find them on our product table and I only have 14 designs, but they are all hand-drawn and lettered. Lastly, my newest endeavor, is I Am The Preacher’s Wife. Through this, I am reaching out to encourage and create community between wives of preachers as well as women who pastor and evangelize.
I cannot deny who I am, and neither can you. The things we are passionate about are the things that define us and create room for us.
It’s always going to be scary and yet exciting when you step out to be you. When you step out to do those things you were created and purposed for. Do not let anyone deter you.
Be like Jesus…do not deny who you are!
